I live in PA and call Sen. McCormick's office regularly; the young people who answer phones know me. I also attend his 'phone town halls' which offer him a platform where he is the one doing most of the talking. I've never had a turn to be one in about seven to ask a question in any of the hourlong phone meetings. Sen. McCormick has a local office on campus at Penn State. In February, protestors who were outside his office were told by campus police that they were trespassing on private property and ordered to leave. Penn State is not a private university; it is a public land grant university. I continue to call Sen. McCormick (R), Sen. Fetterman (D) and my Representative's offices. I may not influence my Congressmen, but I hope the folks I chat with are influenced by me and my messages. When I found out RPJ's book was banned at the Naval Academy, I called their library and registered my protest. I boycott Amazon. It is frustrating, but I believe our voices need to be heard, and any actions we can take are worthwhile. They have a cumulative impact that sends the message that there are more of us than them. I love using indie bookstores. I have always enjoyed gifting children's books to newborns and young people in my life. Now I choose them from the banned booklist. I'm anxious to buy R's new book from my local independent bookstore. When I call Sen. McCormick's office, I will let the folks know that I praise the Sen. for using an indie bookstore, People's Book😊. I just donated to CASA. Thanks, RPJ, for the post, the Convocation, your excellent books, your public interviews, and all the critical polling information you provide. I applaud your courage and honesty.
