Dear #WhiteTooLong readers,
I rounded out 2024 with a banner year of reading—64 books and just under 20,000 pages. I’m mostly a non-fiction guy, but I managed to increase my fiction reading to about one third of my books this year. To see the full list of books I read in 2024, along with my ratings, click over to the list at either GoodReads or StoryGraph.
I’ll continue to experiment this year with both Goodreads and StoryGraph to track my reading. If you’d like to follow my reading during the year, including my “To read,” “Reading,” and “Read” piles, here are the links:
I’d also love to hear from you about your experiences using either of these reading sites (or others). StoryGraph, true to its name, has some compelling features, especially for data nerds like me, that help illustrate your reading habits (although the chart annoyingly dropped one book from the list). For example, here are graphs of my reading pace by month and the most frequent genres I read last year.
I’m also experimenting with book giveaways on these sites and have a current book giveaway running at GoodReads. You can check it out below and enter if you have a GoodReads account. It closes January 11th. Stay tuned for a book giveaway on StoryGraph, which I plan to run in February.
I hope you’ll join me on one of these reading sites this year. Read on!
Robby
Browse and Buy My 2024 Reads at the #WhiteTooLong Bookshop
Since we have a lot of new subscribers over the last few months, I want to remind everyone that I have a companion #WhiteTooLong bookshop. In addition to books I’ve written and books from The Convocation team, I include any book I’ve mentioned in my newsletter. And if you purchase a book there, a portion of the proceeds go to support my writing here.
I’ve just added a shelf containing just the books I read in 2024. Click on the graphic below to browse the shelf.
I had been congratulating myself for reading 38 books last year until I read this. There are only 4 books on your list that I also read in 2024. I promise to do better this year. You have inspired me!
BTW, it was a pleasure to meet you in Denver in October. Keep doing what you do, Robbie (if I may be so bold as to use the familiar).
