WTL Conversations [S3E12]: Two Conservations about The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy: With Anthea Butler and Skye Jethani
GIVEAWAY: Free audio books for first three new paid newsletter subscribers
Dear #WhiteTooLong readers,
Greetings from my home state of Mississippi. I’ve had the privilege to speak at some great venues this week: the University of Mississippi Law School and Square Books in Oxford, along with Lemuria Bookstore, the Mississippi Civil Rights Museum, and St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Jackson. Tonight (9/22), I’ll be speaking at University Baptist Church in Hattiesburg at 7 pm CT—if you are in south Mississippi or have friends in that area, please let them know.
Today I’m pleased to share two engaging conversations I recently had about my new book, The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy and the Path to a Shared American Future, with:
Anthea Butler, Geraldine R. Segal Professor in American Social Thought and Chair of Religious Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, and author of White Evangelical Racism; and
Skye Jethani, co-host of the Holy Post podcast and author of more than a dozen books.
Stay tuned for an upcoming post on scenes from my week in Mississippi. And thanks for reading.
Robby

I quote Anthea Butler in “Time of Ends.” Smart lady
The only problem I have with this content is that the Spanish weren’t “White Christian Europeans.” They were “Christian Europeans,” and really “Catholic Europeans.” The “White” came later.
