I too have a Southern Baptist background, and a M.Div. from a Southern Baptist seminary (SEBTS), which I was attending at the beginning of the fundamentalist takeover. (I now self-identify as a progressive Baptist.) I am doing what I can politically to make sure the former president doesn’t become our next (and perhaps last) president. Relative to January 6, you might find a Substack post earlier this month of interest. It’s a political commentary about the insurrection in musical form, ironically set to music from “Messiah.” I will try to put a link to it below. Keep up the good work on the subject of the dangers of white Christian nationalism, our current political crisis, and any other topics you are considering these days.
