I strongly suspect that, while Trump is outwardly targeting Muslims and immigrants of color, he is very purposely adopting the Hitlerian words and phrases to indirectly attract the support of the January 6- style crowds (a/k/a "violence voters") now threatening Jewish communities, individuals and institutions in America, while he publicly maintains support for Israel's right to defend itself and decries the "mobs." He senses that his own coarse and crude rhetoric has made all sorts of discriminatory hate more "mainstream" and socially commonplace, and he has like Murdoch taken the view that it's the "hate" that sells, not just its target. He is effectively "signaling" his alignment with anti-Semitism, while purporting to be a friend of the Jewish people. Nothing is beneath this man.
